So Kerry and I, recently styled our first wedding together as Oh we love love and what an awesome wedding it was. This is the video of the ceremony and we’ll share some pics of the reception shortly!

This wedding was particularly special as we were part of the beginning.. you see, Dave (the groom) and I met through my legendary cousin, Alain Ferrier (The Bean Stalk) as I was looking for a guitarist to jam some songs with (and Dave is the man who rocks Bed on Bricks and Nick and Dave). Anyhoo, to cut a long story short, Dave mentioned that he was going to propose to his lovely lady, Claire Marek (now Van der Linden).. and we got talking about some ideas. A friend had recently told me the most amazing proposal - based on the legend that if you fold 1000 origami cranes, you will have a wish come true - the guy in the story, an art director - of course! - folded 1000 origami cranes, gave his lady one origami crane - with a card telling the legend and then she walked into a room with a chandelier made of 999 origami cranes.. and well yes, he proposed and his one wish came true!)..

So, using this as inspiration, Dave decided that Origami was the way to go, and Kerry and I taught him to fold origami hearts …. (hence the theme comes through in the wedding…). Dave folded and folded… and folded and folded.. until he had a huge pile of hearts.. he was super excited and we would get pics whatsapp’d to us of the heart-folding progress. It was lovely to share in his proposal journey (I think it’s nice for a guy to have people he can get excited about getting on one knee with.. don’t think this is something the lads can get into to!).

When the day arrived, Dave took Claire our for the morning, and Kerry and I snuck into their apartment and strung over 100 white origami hearts all over, scattered cut out hearts everywhere and disappeared.. it looked beautiful. When Claire arrived home to their transformed apartment, Dave proposed and got the answer his heart desired..

And so… it all began, and it was only natural that we would style their wedding.. it was a beautiful journey with two very special people, who after 7 years of being together decided to make their love commitment ‘official’..

Rock the Romance followed and every detail of this wedding pulsed with Claire and Dave. It was an honor to have been part of the wonderful day.

Enjoy the video and pics to follow soon!

Cheers,

Donna

Oh my! Just found this beautifully unpretentious wedding via Etsy… I just love everything about this, the entire theme being home-made with the idea that time, care and love went into every part of this special day.
Makes one think about the true meaning of celebrating a  marriage- a wedding - and how this intimate space should be a true reflection of the two people getting married and shared with the people who they love and love them (as opposed to a ‘show’ - which unfortunately is more than often the case)..
Very very cool indeed.
We styled our first wedding as “Oh we love love” last Saturday at Silvermist Mountain Lodge Estate in Constantia/Hout Bay - and we were lucky enough to have the most awesome bride and groom - Mr and Mrs Dave van der Linden (Bed on Bricks guitarist and graphic designer) .. what a rocking couple and I’m looking forward to sharing the pics and story here soon..
In the meantime enjoy this colourful wedding.. so flippen gorgeous!
